It has been exactly two years since I launched this website. Twenty-four months have passed since this journey began. When I opened the site in 2023, I didn’t have a clear goal in mind. Even now, when I think about it, I still don’t have a specific purpose regarding the site. Back then, when I started it together with my cousin, my aim was both to write something as a hobby and to promote my novel.
Since I had opened it as a hobby, I didn’t pay much attention to the site’s name. I put my real name as the site’s name. I had no professional intention anyway. Yet despite that, today this site has managed to reach a certain level. It has gained regular traffic and subscribers.
Of course, I was excited when I first launched it. How many people would visit? Where would my posts appear on Google? Would anyone comment? I had a childlike enthusiasm inside me, since it was the very first time I had my own website.
Later, I realized that things weren’t as simple as they seemed. It took me some time to understand this, and inevitably, it discouraged me a bit. Sometimes an article I had spent hours working on wouldn’t even make it into the first ten pages. Getting indexed took time. As a result, hardly anyone was reading. Occasionally, a few visitors came through social media, but only a handful.
Even so, I continued to create content and share it — though only up to a point.
If the Journey Gets Interrupted
I stopped being a chronic content creator because I had classes to focus on. I couldn’t spare enough time for the website due to my studies and laboratories. Besides, hardly anyone was properly reading what I wrote. Even though I was doing this as a hobby, I still needed a source of motivation. Knowing that my posts were being read made me happy. The comments I received as well. Those gave me strength and motivation. The increase in subscribers and the rise in my site’s statistics also pushed me to create new content. However, just two months after launching the site, I stopped writing regularly. Around April 2024, I posted one or two more articles. Although a few people occasionally stumbled upon my site and left comments, fewer than fifty people were visiting it monthly.
The Site Keeps Growing
In the last quarter of 2024, I started creating content and uploading to the site again. This time, I was doing something different: asking for feedback from people. By using my social media accounts more actively, I began to ask for feedback. People started visiting my site. I asked my friends to subscribe, and I grew my audience. Gradually, more and more people began to come to my site. During this process, I received many valuable critiques and took some of them into account to improve myself. Later, with the SEO training I received, I also increased my organic traffic. By then, I had reached a certain number of users. I received many comments during this period, and they motivated me. Even though I occasionally took breaks, I always kept creating content. I accomplished the goals I had set and, with the help of both my cousin and all of you, I made the site more professional.
I want to leave a mark on life, and I hope to achieve that through my website. This journey must continue. I’m writing this post for the anniversary, and I would like to thank everyone who has supported me. See you in the upcoming posts.
